DualPac® Technology
A New Level of Packing Reliability

Leveraging the Best Qualities of Two Fibers in Braided Packing

Chesterton's new DualPac® Technology combines the benefits of PTFE and Aramid fibers to create an entirely new level of packing reliability. Individually these fibers have their drawbacks, but together they offer advanced levels of performance:

  • The low friction and high sealability of PTFE without the consolidation and extrusion
  • The strength and resiliency of aramids without the shaft wear
  • Fewer gland adjustments translates to longer life

Read below about DualPac 2211 and DualPac 2212, the first Chesterton packing products developed using this innovative technology.

New!  DualPac 2212 - High-Pressure, Burn Resistant, Multi-Purpose Packing

DualPac 2212 is the second Chesterton packing using DualPac Technology.  This non-staining packing combines an inner, burn-resistant material with a highly resilient outer fiber. The end result is a braided packing with a quicker break-in period and longer reliability.

DualPac® 2212 holds up in strong, abrasive sealing applications and resists instant failure in the event of pressure surges.

Case Study: DualPac Doubles Packing Life in Pumps Sealing Heavy Slurry

A sugar mill trying to seal heavy slurry (63% solids) was having issues with its current compression packing in multiple centrifugal pumps. The packing deformed under pressure, was unable to control leakage, and lasted an average of only three weeks.

DualPac 2212 lasts 2x longer than the competitors' packing.
  • Packing savings: $4,751 year
  • Downtime savings: $1,600/year
  • Labor savings: $320/year
  • Total annual savings: $6,000+/year

Case Study: Trouble-Free Performance for Gypsum Slurry Sealing

In a fertilizer mineral processing operation, attempts to seal abrasive gypsum slurry were difficult. Packing and shaft required replacement every few days.  Gypsum material entered the stuffing box and caused pump to leak.

Five rings of DualPac 2211 were installed, resulting in:

  • 28+ days of trouble-free performance
  • Labor savings: $1,000/month
  • Product loss savings: $4,200+/month
  • Total annual savings: Nearly $70,000/year
