Chipping

Chipping Process: With the exception of stone groundwood processing where the debarked logs are ground directly, all other pulping processes require logs to be chipped into small slivers of wood. Chipping involves a rotating flywheel disc with a series of blades mounted on the face. The logs are fed into the face area where the knife blades shave away wood chips. The maintenance of the chipper head insures good chip quality.
